Why now

The Tonkin Highway Extension is locked in to reach Mundijong, the freight rail realignment is approved (which will free up the town centre), a new Mundijong Town Centre Precinct Structure Plan is being drafted for public consultation in 2026, and there’s an active proposal to extend the electrified Metronet rail network south from Byford to Mundijong in the future.
